Bomb Factory Discovered In Niger

Security men yesterday discovered a factory for making Improvise Explosives Devices (IEDs) in Maitumbi, a suburb of Minna, the Niger State capital, Daily Trust gathered.
The factory was discovered based an information gathered from one of the five suspects arrested over the  killing of  three Policemen in Minna last week.
Daily Trust learnt that the bomb factory,located behind a private school in the area was raided at about 8:30pm.
Our reporter gathered that  two 1.5 gms gas cylinder, 30 cans soft drinks stockpiled with explosives, 25 kilograms of fertilizer, batteries  and other electrical gadgets were recovered from the house that was turned  in to the said bomb factory.
A source close to the security operatives that carried out the raid said, the operation lasted for about two hours was carefully carried out to avoid any casualty, especially among the innocent members of the public.
It was also learnt the factory was established with the sole aim of attacking  the state capital and Suleja town.
Residents of declined to speak about the occupants of the house, though it was gathered that the house belonged to a civil servant who innocently ranted it out to the suspects.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Pius Edorbo declined to give details of the raid, but merely said, ‘’We are still with the operation.’’
In the last few days, residents of the state capital were subjected to an intensive stop and search operation by both soldiers and the police in all the major roads.
